We are going to sell our lovely campervan. It brought us from Perth to Cairns without any problems.
We have a valid WA rego till November which is the easiest and cheapest rego in Australia (220$ for 6 month).You can easily change everything online (ownership, rego ...)
All the stuff you need for a comfotable life is in the car including a 12V fridge and a solar panel on the roof. You will never need external power.
There is also a big inverter if you need to charge your laptop, handy etc..
It is much more comfortable than all the other backpacker vans. You can stand in the van and cook inside because of the pop top.
